Palliative Nursing Series
The American Journal of Nursing's (AJN's) award-winning 16-part series

These articles, supported in part by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, encompass AJN’s two-and-a-half-year series on palliative care, designed to help nurses take the lead in improving end of life care, whether at the time of death or early stages of a terminal illness. The 16-part series won three awards: the 2003 Gold Award from the American Society of Healthcare Publishing Editors; the 2004 Magnum Opus Award from Publications Management; and a 2004 Pinnacle Award for Nursing Print Media from Sigma Theta Tau International.
