Convincing the patient to stay wouldn't exactly be considered most ethical, maybe some reasoning would be of good effect. When suspecting someone you know has an eating disorder it would be safest to speak up rather than let something so harmful slip by. If a patient is having pain and the prescriber refuses to order a pain medication, I would definitely go up to the chain of command. Anytime you be uncertain about the safety of an assignment definitely demand a change. Even knowing that the staff is already short handed coming into work ill would be a bad and possibly lethal idea for the patients sake; you're better safe than sorry!
