Two cases of basal cell carcinoma were reported presenting to a wound clinic as nonhealing ulcers. The suggestive clinical features were a red shiny surface with the appearance of granulation tissue covering the entire ulcer. Biopsy would be necessary to confirm the diagnosis.

In addition to the more common and typical wounds and ulcers, an active and established wound clinic will generate the referral of a wide variety of unusual and difficult problems that present a challenge in both diagnosis and treatment.
