I used to say that there is a new rule every day, now I joke there are hourly changes. We are faced with cost repositioning, a.k.a., working harder with fewer resources. Staff positions are not being filled; insurance coverage is changing; premiums are increasing. All of these changes are affecting our everyday workflow. We feel like we have no control. Belonging to a bigger group sometimes makes you feel that you have a voice. Becoming a certified plastic surgical nurse or a certified aesthetic nurse specialist allows you to be in the company of conscientious professionals who practice with the highest of standards. They are experts in the field. In a time of uncertainty, these nurses are a constant.

We are very excited by the number of nurses applying for the certified aesthetic nurse specialist certification. We will offer both examinations this fall in Chicago as well as Canada. October is always a big month for recertification and we have packets coming in daily. I cannot stress enough the importance of concise packets. Please make sure you are meeting the 30-hr minimum for plastic surgery hours of the total 45. Also, note the valid CEU date range for your period of recertification. We are adhering closely to the guidelines set forth on the recertification page of the Web site.

If you have moved, please make sure the board office has your contact info so that you will receive your notification when your recertification is coming due.

And as always, please do not hesitate to contact your board members with questions.

I look forward to seeing everyone in Chicago!

Respectfully submitted,
