	AHRQ connects medical injuries with rising health care costs
A new study by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) found that medical injuries in U.S. hospitals contribute to more than 30,000 deaths and billions of dollars in added costs. The research, which appeared in the October 8 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, is the first to provide direct evidence that medical injuries increase health care costs. More
	On the hill: Legislation to change overtime rejected
The U.S. House of Representatives supported a motion to block Fair Labor Standards Act changes, which would have affected nurses’ overtime pay. The American Nurses Association is pleased with the vote, as it favors blocking the legislation because the changes could increase forced overtime. More
