Abstract

ABSTRACT: Dermatochalasis refers to excess skin on the eyelids. As the thinnest skin in the body, the eyelid skin stretches over time just by the mere act of blinking. While dermatochalasis is a dermatological disorder, treatment is often surgical in nature and is accomplished by a procedure called a Blepharoplasty. While this procedure may be cosmetic in nature, it may be considered medically necessary if the skin hangs in such a way that the peripheral vision is affected.
