West Virginia CE Requirements for License Renewal

West-Virginia.jpegAs a nurse in the state of West Virginia, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license. All of our CE activities are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). To assist you in meeting your state’s continuing education requirements, we have added links to related topics. Please ensure that any activity meets the requirements of your state board of nursing.

Renewal Requirements

RN
  • Every year
    • 12 hours of continuing education
    • 3 hours within one year of initial licensure on best prescribing and drug diversion training for those who prescribe, administer or dispense controlled substances
LPN
  • Every year
    • 12 hours of continuing education
    • 3 hours within one year of initial licensure on best prescribing and drug diversion training for those who prescribe, administer or dispense controlled substances
Advanced Practice 
  • Every 2 years
    • 24 hours of continuing education
      • 12 hours in advanced pharmacology
      • 12 hours in clinical management practice including:
        • 3 hours within one year of initial licensure on best prescribing and drug diversion training for those who prescribe, administer or dispense controlled substances
