Alaska CE Requirements for License Renewal

Alaska.jpegAs a nurse in the state of Alaska, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license. As of May 6, 2020, CE requirements for nurses in the state of Alaska were reduced to 15 contact hours. Renewal Requirements

RN

  • Every two years
    • 30 contact hours of continuing education (certified by ANCC, ANA, AMA, a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist certifying body or approved by another Board of Nursing)
    • For 2020, the requirement was reduced 15 contact hours of continuing education
LPN
  • Every two years
    • 30 contact hours of continuing education (certified by ANCC, ANA, AMA, a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist certifying body or approved by another Board of Nursing)For 2020, the requirement was reduced 15 contact hours of continuing education
Advanced Practice
  • Every two years
    • At least 30 contact hours of continuing education, including 12 contact hours in advanced pharmacotherapeutics and 12 contact hours in clinical management of patients.
***If you hold a current DEA registration, 2 hours of education in pain management and opioid use and addiction in the two year renewal period is required. ​***
