Utah CE Requirements for License Renewal
As a nurse in the state of Utah, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license.
Renewal Requirements
RN
- Every two years
- 30 hours of continuing education, or 15 hours of continuing education and 200 hours of licensed practice, or 400 hours of licensed practice
- One of the Utah-specified suicide training programs
LPN
- Every two years
- 30 hours of continuing education, or 15 hours of continuing education and 200 hours of licensed practice, or 400 hours of licensed practice
- One of the Utah-specified suicide training programs
Advanced Practice
- Every two years
- 30 hours of continuing education and at least 400 hours of licensed practice if licensed as an APRN prior to July 1, 1992
- 4 hours in controlled substance prescribing, including: 3.5 hours of approved controlled substance education and 0.5 hours from DOPL's online controlled substance tutorial, for APRN with controlled substance
- One of the Utah-specified suicide training programs
