Save the date. The American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA) will celebrate its 10th Anniversary, APWCA2011 National Clinical Conference, March 31 to April 3, 2011, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Review and refresher course. "The Essentials: A Comprehensive Review and Refresher Course on Wound Care Management and Intervention" will be held August 7-8, 2010, at the Renaissance Philadelphia Hotel at the Philadelphia International Airport. This program is a valuable tool for clinicians to update their general knowledge, as well preparation for certification examination including the Physician Wound Care Certification Exam offered by the Council for Medical Education and Testing.

National Alliance of Wound Care
The National Alliance of Wound Care is accepting nominations for the 4th annual WCC Outstanding Achievement and Scholarship Awards. Anyone may nominate an outstanding WCC for 1 of the 3 award categories: Outstanding Research in Wound Care, Outstanding Work in Diabetic Wounds, and Outstanding WCC of the Year. In addition, WCCs may nominate deserving WCC candidates for the Scholarship Award. Forms and instructions are found on the NAWC Web site, and entries must be received by July 12, 2010. Winners will be notified by August 9, 2010.
The NAWC will present the annual WCC Outstanding Achievement and Scholarship Awards this year during the WOW (Wild on Wounds) Conference at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, September 23-25, 2010.

Wound, Ostomy & Continence Nurses Society
Wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) nursing is one of the newest specialties now recognized by the American Nurses Association (ANA). The Wound Ostomy & Continence Nursing Society was recently notified of the ANA's decision. The association, which represents the interests of more than 3.1 million nurses in the United States, advances the profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice. ANA's recognition of WOC nursing as a specialty signifies that WOC nursing adheres to the high standards of practice cultivated by the ANA.
