Abstract
Patient safety, including the safe adminsitration of medications, is an essential component of nursing practice. However, helping students calculate medication dosages has continually challenged faculty members and students. The authors describe a comprehensive approach to teaching and evaluating dosage calculation. Common barriers to helping students master necessary math skills required for accuracy are addressed.
