This column will be my last as the president of your society of trauma nurses and I've enjoyed every minute serving as your leader and working with such an incredible group of dedicated professionals. Thanks to all of you for affording me this opportunity to serve.

We've had an exciting and busy year with many accomplishments, including the continued strengthening of our physician collaborations and partnerships with American College of Surgeons, Eastern Association for the Surgery of Tauma, Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST), and American Pediatric Surgical Association and the ongoing propagation of the Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course, Optimal Care, and Advanced Trauma Care for Nursing courses. The year 2010 marked the inaugural Advanced Trauma Care for Nursing virtual course, which was held in Michigan. It will provide the foundation for expanding access to this course throughout the nation. This year also afforded Society of Trauma Nurses the opportunity to partner with the Hartford Institute, focusing on geriatric trauma and collaborating on providing online educational modules and resources for the clinicians who care for them. These are, but a few of, the initiatives and projects our board, committees, and special interest groups are working on.

WE TRULY ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!!

As I pass the baton as president of the Society Trauma Nurses (STN) over to Elizabeth Seislove as your new STN President, I want to take this opportunity to heartily thank the members of STN leadership for their hard work, vision, innovation, and generosity in voluntarily serving in their positions. All of these nurses have challenging roles in their own hospitals, health care systems, and/or regions, and they still find time to actively and enthusiastically engage in the work of running a professional organization. We are all indebted to them. I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge each of them. I hope that if your paths cross with any one of them, you will take the time to thank them for their service to our organization and to you.
