Three More Months
Treatments are over, healing established.
Physically easy, mentally challenging.
A fresh beginning; a new normal begins.
Unusual aches and pains ... same worries and concerns.
Blood work and scans along with doctor appointments.
Life continues with no evidence of disease.
Goal achieved for another three months.
SHARON GOUGH, RN, OCN, is a radiation/oncology nurse at Chilton Medical Center in New Jersey; and PAUL ROSEINGRAVE, CCA, AAS, is a Health Information Management coder there. Both are cancer survivors, and they write that this poem, dedicated to all those surviving cancer, was inspired by how survivors live with a diagnosis of cancer with the accompanying fears and trepidations.
