Abstract
ABSTRACT: Lichen sclerosus is a chronic, disabling dermatological condition most commonly found in the vulvar area of postmenopausal women but can be seen in premenarche women and men. Collaboration between dermatology and referring practices is recognized as a vital component of comanaged patient care for various dermatoses. Collaboration with gynecology and urology provides indispensable resources essential for the successful management of vulvar lichen sclerosus. This cooperation can provide substantial contribution to interprofessional knowledge and improved patient outcomes. The diagnostic and treatment knowledge from additional experts is critical to provide appropriate care to patients with vulvar lichen sclerosus. The intent of this article is to describe common characteristics, presentation, management, and patient concerns that will assist in comanaging these patients between dermatology and their other healthcare providers.
