Abstract
With today's nursing shortage, hospitals are seeking creative strategies to recruit nurses. The task of recruiting inactive nurses has been more difficult because of the challenges faced by hospital-based nurses in this era of managed care and increased acuity of patients. This article describes a unique 8-week course, which provides the nurses with an update of technical skills and emphasizes the development of the critical-thinking skills necessary to deliver safe, competent patient care.
