Abstract

* Ivabradine (Corlanor) is a new drug used in the treatment of stabilized chronic heart failure. It decreases the risks of worsening heart failure and hospitalization.

* Ivabradine is contraindicated if there is an acute exacerbation of heart failure, hypotension, or various cardiac pathologies that alter the generation of a heartbeat or the conductivity of the electrical charge within the heart.

* The most common adverse effects are bradycardia, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, and temporary vision disturbances characterized by flashes of light (known as phosphenes).
