Abstract
The review of the 2003 standards is contained in two parts. This first column reviews several of the major standards' changes from the "Rights and Ethics" chapter through the "Continuum of Care" chapter. Part II will review the major standards' changes from the "Improving Organizational Performance" chapter through the "Surveillance, Prevention and Control of Infection" chapter, and identify which standards have been elevated to a heavier weighting affecting the overall grid score.
