Beginning with the March 2007 issue JNPT will be published by Lippincott Williams and Wilkins (LWW). We had an excellent relationship with the Orthopedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association who published our journal for almost ten years. The decision to move to LWW was based on many factors including improving the efficiency of publication in response to JNPT's expansion.

JNPT has grown. In the past year our reviewer pool has increased by 35% (with a 25% increase in geographical representation), and the volume of manuscripts submitted increased by 100%. We maintain website and podcast services in addition to the print version of the manual. We are indexed in MEDLINE. All of this growth has meant more work for the Editor's office. The move to LWW will allow us to centralize and automate many of our current processes.

The move to a new publisher means that LWW will handle many of the journal operations. It also means that JNPT will have a new look. A new website, will be the portal for the online submission, tracking and review process. We will also maintain our current website for podcasts. Many other operations such as advertising and nonmember subscription previously handled through the Editor's office and the Section Executive Officer will reside at LWW. The Editorial Board of JNPT wants to spend less time on the administration operations of the journal so that we can focus on advancing the profession through the use of the journal. Our plan is to fulfill the new mission and vision statements that were adopted by the journal and section. Please read the June Editorial where the Strategic Plan will be unveiled.
