Abstract

PURPOSE: To offer an educational experience that will help improve the participant's understanding of the role of prevention and a clinical pathway in the management of pressure ulcers in the long-term-care setting.

 

TARGET AUDIENCE: This CME/CE activity is intended for physicians and nurses with an interest in the development and implementation of interdisciplinary clinical pathways for skin and wound management.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this activity participants should be able to:

 

1. Identify the purpose of clinical pathways.

 

2. Discuss the importance of pressure ulcer prevention in long-term care.

 

3. Describe how a clinical pathway can be developed and used to implement evidence-based practice.
