Founder's Award Winner

The Sharon Baranoski Founder's Award is given annually to honor overall pursuit of excellence in the field of skin and wound care. This year's winner is Laura Bolton, PhD. She received the award at the recent 16th Annual Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin & Wound Care in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

Dr Bolton, the Director of Outcomes Research for ConvaTec, A Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, is well known as a mentor to skin and wound care professionals, many of whom have gone on to become leaders in the field. Long before the term "evidence-based practice" was in vogue, she was discussing the value of skin and wound care based on science, evidence, and cost-effectiveness of care in her lectures and articles. By encouraging practitioners to "think outside the box," Dr Bolton has enhanced the care that many patients now receive.

The Sharon Baranoski Founder's Award is given by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, publisher of Advances in Skin & Wound Care and one of the sponsors of the Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin & Wound Care, in honor of Sharon Baranoski, MSN, RN, CWOCN, founder and symposium director. This year, the award was supported by an educational grant from 3M Health Care.
