I watched "How to Die in Oregon" on Netflix, which documented the state's Death with Dignity Act. Before watching the program, I would have had an issue with it. Now I have to say: if it's a patient's desire, then who am I to stop them? It is not easy watching two of your grandparents struggle-my grandmother with brain cancer who could barely get off the toilet and regressed to an infant-like state before she died, and my grand-father who was tied to 15 liters of oxygen on a BiPAP at home struggling to breathe-before dying. They were in pain. If they could have suffered less, I'm sure they would have. It's not my right to interfere with the desires of others or push my agenda on them. It's 100% the patient's choice.
