Abstract

Abstract: Mechanical ventilation weaning remains a challenge in critical care nursing. Nurses can review the evidence-based guidelines provided in this article to gain a better understanding of common ventilator modes and settings, the weaning process, common complications, and symptom management. Five nursing-care recommendations for achieving optimal patient outcomes are also shared.
