Students are expected to apply previously acquired knowledge pertaining to cardiac pharmacology as well as cardiac anatomy and physiology prior to introducing cardiac conditions in the classroom for an adult medical surgical nursing course. To prepare students in the classroom prior to the discussion of cardiac conditions, the instructor reviewed content that may be helpful to facilitate their learning. Students were divided into teams of 4 in the classroom prior to the lesson. PowerPoint slides were created with a variety of cardiac medication classifications, heart valves, heart chambers, and cardiac electrical pathways. One word pertaining to the cardiac content was placed on each slide, and each slide was automatically timed to advance after 15 seconds. One student from each team was selected to sit in front of the screen facing their respective teammates. Teammates described the word using clues to enable their player to recall the word displayed on each slide within the allotted 15 seconds. As each player correctly stated the word on the screen, the team received 1 point. A total of 28 slides were created, and this activity took 7 minutes to complete.
