Abstract

We report a case of a 29-year-old man with a rare condition, Coats plus syndrome, who was admitted to the geriatric rehabilitation unit due to his frailty and complex health issues. This case illustrates the potential benefit of admitting younger patients onto geriatric rehabilitation units, as this team has specialized skills that can engage young frail patients with complex care needs as partners in their own care decisions, helping them live in the present, adjust to changing circumstances, maximize their quality of life, and optimize positive experiences in the health care setting.
