I deeply valued the contribution made by Sandra B. Lewenson and Ashley Graham-Perel in capturing the oral history of Bernardine Lacey ("'You Don't Have Any Business Being This Good': An Oral History Interview with Bernardine Lacey," Historical Feature, August). Lacey viscerally described how nursing has not always treated kindly our underrepresented sisters and brothers.

It was striking that both this article and another in the August issue, "Investing in Nursing's Future" (Professional Development), addressed mentoring in the profession as an imperative. Read as bookends, these articles send a clarion call to nursing to consider the importance of mentoring work for all nurses, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or religion, as noted by Lacey.
