Capacity management of the gastrointestinal suite is the process of controlling the resources of the gastrointestinal unit to create an environment of efficiency and profitability. Through the judicious use of space, labor, equipment, materials, and information technology, patient throughput in the gastrointestinal unit may be maximized leading to improved access of healthcare for the community, unit profitability, and increased physician and support staff satisfaction.

We are pleased to present the Abstracts from the SGNA's 32nd Annual Course: Passion for GI Nursing: Pass It On!! The diversity of these topics certainly reflects the richness and breadth of our specialty. In keeping with the tradition of the Annual Course, we hope the following abstracts will encourage discussions for improving nursing practice and patient care outcomes.
