On the 2005-2006 board of directors for the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, Debbie Brinker, RN, CNS, CCRN, MN, MS, is board president, and Mary Fran Tracy, RN, CCRN, CCNS, PhD, FAAN is president elect. New board members are Beth Hammer, RN, APRN,BC, MSN, Paula Lusardi, RN, CCRN, CCNS, PhD, Patricia Gonce-Morton, RN, ACNP, PhD, FAAN, and Janice Wojcik, RN, APRN,BC, CCRN, MS.

 

At Children's Medical Center Dallas, Jennifer Caldwell and Joddi Bronar, both registered nurses in renal and gastroenterology, have achieved the rare distinction of becoming certified clinical transplant nurses.

 

Lori Buswell, RN, APN, OCN, MS, was selected as one of the top two award winners for abstracts submitted this year to the 15th Annual Summer Institute in Nursing Informatics at The University of Maryland School of Nursing.

 

Dr. Fannie Gaston-Johansson, RN, DrMedSc, FAAN, received a 2005 Johns Hopkins University Diversity Recognition Award. She's the first African American woman to receive tenure and full professorship on the Johns Hopkins nursing faculty.

 

Jill Johnson, RN, MSN, received the Distinguished Certified Flight Registered Nurse Award from the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing and the Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association.

 

Amy Perkins, RN, and Ann Liston Wells, RN, BSN, of the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, recently were presented with the Laura Snitzer Boozer Nursing Award. The award honors nurses who have demonstrated professional excellence and leadership in pediatric cancer care.
