Dear Dr. Catlin,

As a Trauma Program Director, I wanted to share with your readers two articles recently published in the Trauma System News: https://www.trauma-news.com/2021/01/trauma-registry-qa-what-is-the-difference-be and https://www.trauma-news.com/2021/03/trauma-registry-qa-how-is-ais-coding-differe.

I am sharing this with permission of the editor of Trauma System News. I think that is essential for pediatric surgical nurses to be aware of the Abbreviated Injury Scale and its role in calculating the New Injury Severity Score and the Trauma Injury Severity Score. These scores are used by trauma centers as a tool to measure quality of care. There are special considerations in the pediatric population, and they are discussed in the second article.

Thank you for your assistance.
