Each year, during the second full week of October, we celebrate National Case Management Week and recognize the invaluable work of case managers and those that support the case management community in improving health outcomes.

The theme for the most recent National Case Management Week held on October 9-15, 2022, Setting the Standard for Patient-Centered Care, truly encapsulated the professional practice of case management and the amazing work case managers do. Case managers have stepped up in new and innovative ways to improve health outcomes, and #CMWeek2022 was the perfect opportunity to not only recognize our tireless case managers and their commitment to upholding the standards of practice but also educate stakeholders across the continuum of care in a myriad of settings, as well as providers, regulators, and consumers about the tremendous value case managers bring to the successful delivery of health care.

Getting everyone involved in this celebration of the profession and practice of case management was imperative to expanding the awareness of the value of case management. CMSA planned some wonderful activities to showcase case management, provide self-care, network with peers, and add more skills to case manager's already overflowing toolbox. In addition, CMSA Chapters, employers, providers, communities, and more participated in the celebrations. Here's a peek into just a few ways case managers were honored during #CMWeek2022:

* CMSA Chapters received official proclamations declaring National Case Management Week from their local and state legislators and held events and celebrations across the county.

* Case managers spoke at local community events and spread the word to other professional on the importance of their work.

* Personal stories were shared that illustrated the impact case managers have every day.

* Employers hosted appreciation events and profiled case managers in their company newsletter to help raise awareness of the practice.

* Other health care professionals were encouraged to celebrate and acknowledge case managers.

* Health providers recognized case managers as critical members of health care teams and showed appreciation for their work and what they do for patients.

* Case management was promoted at local health fairs, preventative health screenings, and other community activities.

* Professional seminars and workshops were hosted featuring and benefiting case managers.

* Case managers were recognized and featured on social media and in other communication outlets.

* Receptions and coffee connects were held to celebrate case managers.

* Self-care sessions were offered to honor the tireless work of the case manager.

As we make plans for National Case Management Week 2023 (October 8-14) to further recognize and feature case managers, we realize that our celebrations do not stop there. We appreciate case managers in many ways, all year long!

As the oldest professional organization for the practice of case management, we have long supported the case management community across the continuum in a myriad of ways and celebrate the profession every day. From developing and providing relevant, timely education, critical policy information, supportive resources, and the ability to connect with the wider case management community, CMSA is the one place for the professional case managers and those who support them in their goal of providing excellent patient-centered care.

In fact, make plans to join us on June 27-30, 2023, at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas for the 2023 CMSA Annual Conference where the celebrations continue with valuable education, networking, and continued recognition through awards and designations.

* The Case Manager of the Year Award (CMOY) recognizes an individual whose notable contributions and exceptional dedication have provided a positive vision for the future of case management. The CMOY recipients have encouraged others to develop their own gifts of leadership and whose continuing commitment has shaped the industry.

* The Award of Service Excellence (ASOE) honors a practicing case manager who exemplifies the essence of case management-innovation, creativity, collaboration, and resourcefulness. The extraordinary importance that one individual can make through outstanding initiative, inspiring others, and improving the quality of practice is recognized.

* The Chapter Excellence and Innovation Awards (CEIA) recognizes CMSA Chapters, led by case manager volunteers, that embody the CMSA mission and provide exemplary value to case managers within their territory.

* The Case Management Fellow program (FCM) recognizes leaders within the professional practice of case management who take an active role in the identification of future trends and issues affecting the profession, serve the public and the profession by advancing the standards through excellence, and exude a passion for the profession.

This year's theme, "Discovering Solutions. Driving Change," perfectly describes the value of attending conference, and the everyday role of the case manager. CMSA honors case managers in all settings and disciplines by providing best-in-class education to elevate the profession.

We hope that you'll join us in celebrating case management and tell a case manager how much you appreciate them every single day. We do.
