Abstract

Gastric bypass surgery is on the increase. There are no nationally recognized pregastric or postgastric bypass protocols for nutrition assessment and therapy. Clinical experience rather than evidence guides most nutrition recommendations. The role of nutrition professionals in surgical weight loss programs is yet to be defined and is poorly reimbursed. Outcome studies, including nutrition and eating behavior data related to the variuos operations, are needed
