FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Happy 20th Anniversary to Advances in Skin & Wound Care!

This issue of Advances in Skin & Wound Care marks the journal's 20th year of publication. First published in February 1988 as Decubitus, the journal-as well as the wound care profession-has changed and grown considerably over the past 2 decades. To celebrate this milestone, we've included some special offerings in this anniversary edition as we reflect on where we have been and look to where we are going.

The first editorial written by the journal's founder, Dr Robert S. Abruzzese, appears on page 72, preceded by a special anniversary editorial written by the current editorial leadership team of Richard Salcido, MD; Elizabeth A. Ayello, PhD, RN, APRN, BC, CWOCN, FAPWCA, FAAN; R. Gary Sibbald, BSc, MD, FRCPC (Med) (Derm), FAPWCA, MEd; and Cathy Thomas Hess, BSN, RN, CWOCN. One of the features published in the premier issue of Decubitus, "Burns or Pressure Ulcers in the Surgical Patient?" by Thomas P. Stewart, PhD, and Sandra J. Magnano, RN, also appears on pages 74-83 of this issue.

Joining Advances in Skin & Wound Care in celebrating a 20th anniversary this year is the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP). To honor that important occasion, the article, "The NPUAP: Look Who Else Is Turning 20!" was written by Diane Langemo, PhD, RN, FAAN; Joyce M. Black, PhD, RN, CPSN, CWN, FAPWCA; JoAnn Maklebust, MSN, RN, CS, CNP; and Mary Ellen Posthauer, RD, CD, LD, and is published on pages 84-89.

We look forward to many more years of providing readers with cutting-edge articles on clinical knowledge and original investigation. As always, we want to hear your suggestions for the journal. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].
