I was excited to see the recent article on the importance of nursing labor support ("How to Implement Complementary Therapies for Laboring Women," by Zwelling, Johnson, and Allen) in the November/December 2006 MCN (31[6]). I too, along with the authors of the article, am passionate about the topic of nursing labor support, and I often speak around the United States on this critical perinatal nursing topic.

I want the readers of MCN The American Journal of Maternal Child Nursing to know of the groundbreaking work of Linda Koehl, RNC, Marcia Patterson, RNC, and the staff at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago on this labor support topic. I cite their work each time I lecture, as the Rush nurses have been kind enough to share their work with not only me but many others.

I, for one, want to publicly thank the Rush perinatal nurses for their work in making labor support a critical nursing task once again.
