National Alliance of Wound Care
The National Alliance of Wound Care (NAWC), a multidisciplinary professional certification organization offering the wound care certification (WCC) credential to nurses of all levels, therapists, and physicians and their assistants, has begun implementation of its "increased awareness program." The program is designed to expose the WCC credential to specific audiences on a national level that will benefit from the education and experience the WCC has to offer, according to the NAWC. As part of the program, the NAWC has attended a number of national meetings in 2007 and has had excellent response on all levels at these conferences, said Debbie Hecker, RN, MBA, WCC, Executive Director, NAWC.
Continuing into the second half of 2007, the NAWC will help honor the 20th anniversary of Advances in Skin & Wound Care journal by sponsoring a reception at the Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin and Wound Care in Nashville, TN. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and network with NAWC representatives and other WCC professionals to discuss the benefits of membership and how to maximize their credentials. A display of Advances in Skin & Wound Care journals will depict the progression of the journal through issues published over the past 2 decades. The reception will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, October 12, 2007, in the Lincoln A Room on the mezzanine level of the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Conference Center. All symposium attendees and exhibitors are invited to attend the reception at their convenience.

American Professional Wound Care Association
The American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA) is calling for oral and poster abstracts for APWCA 2008, which will be held March 6-9, 2008, in Fort Worth, TX. All submissions must be received by January 25, 2008, and must be completed on the APWCA abstracts forms and in the electronic format found on the APWCA Web site, http://www.apwca.org. The Web site has a new addition, featuring several summaries of the poster abstracts from APWCA 2007 and previous conferences.
