Abstract

Through a mailed survey of 86 preceptors, a number of issues with preceptorship were identified through their written responses. They believe that they are largely unprepared and would like more advance notice that they are to precept, be recognized for their contributions, and be given assistant in the area of evaluation. Faculty and administrators need to identify strategies to address these issues and to consider giving meaningful financial contributions to preceptors.
