SUR-FIT Natura Low-Pressure Adaptor. This new postoperative ostomy device is designed to minimize discomfort and pain after ostomy surgery. The product offers clinicians and ostomy patients a simple and gentle solution to manage abdominal pain in the days and weeks after surgery, according to the manufacturer. The SUR-FIT Natura Low-Pressure Adaptor is a flexible ring that goes between the skin barrier and pouch to create added finger space, allowing the user to attach the pouch without contact with the abdomen. The result is that the fingers absorb the pressure required to snap the pouch to the skin barrier because the connecting takes place away from the skin.

Tegaderm Matrix Dressing with PHI Technology. This is the first wound dressing in a platform of products from 3M that uses innovative PHI technology. The dressing is indicated for use with chronic, noninfected wounds, including diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers (Stages II-IV), and venous ulcers. It also has demonstrated favorable results on hard-to-heal wounds. PHI technology consists of a unique blend of cations found naturally in the body, including potassium, zinc, calcium, and rubidium. The technology responds to body temperature and promotes a natural moisture balance to help chronic wounds progress toward healing. The new dressing from the Tegaderm family is comfortable, safe, and easy to use. Its unique formulation creates a favorable, moist wound environment that does not harm the patient's skin, affect tissue integrity, or cause maceration, according to the manufacturer. The simple design of the dressing allows the patient to easily apply and remove it once out of the wound clinic, helping to increase patient compliance.

Sof*Care Bariatric Chair Cushion. This new product is specifically engineered for patients 350 to 700 lb who need pressure redistribution while sitting. The cushion redistributes the patient's weight using Sof[spacing dot above]Care's 3-layer air-channeling technology. A dual-chamber design retains air on each side of the cushion, helping to provide optimal support by preventing air inside the cushion from shifting side-to-side. A stability channel overlaps the dual air chambers, enabling each zone to maintain optimal air pressure while helping to prevent the patient from bottoming, according to the manufacturer. The cushion is made from smooth, durable vinyl that is easy to clean, enabling repeated use by the same patient. Preinflated for nursing convenience, the cushion has 2 adjustment valves located at the back. A small, handheld pump is available for rare cases when reinflation is required, such as changes in altitude.
