Ethical dilemmas do occur in the gastroenterology setting and present a challenge for the staff. Basic issues involved in ethical problems will be presented. Identifying contributing factors of moral distress will de discussed. Manifestations of moral distress and possible strategies to decrease moral distress will be highlighted. Case scenarios will be presented to promote discussion and understanding of effective mechanisms to cope with these challenges.
