The Endoscopy Technician Update Education and Certification Preparation Course is an eight-hour presentation for the experienced endoscopy assistant or endoscopy technician looking to complete a nationally recognized competency program inclusive of preparation for the national certification exam offered by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). This presentation reviews the theoretical knowledge supported by clinical skills of the newest technology available. It includes a focus on the role delineation and regulatory standards; gastrointestinal anantomy, physiology, and pathophysiology; patient safety in endoscopy; infection control; handling and maintenance of endoscopy equipment; perforamce improvement and endoscopy research; and testing tips for successful completion of the national certification exam for the endoscopy technician.
