This one-hour session introduces nurses and associates to the basic elements of how and why gastrointesitnal (GI) facilities and physicians get paid for their delivery of endoscopic patient care and services. The presentation focuses on fundamental reimbursement concepts such as current procedural terminology (CPT) codes, relative value unites (RVUs), and how to read a fee schedule. Knowledge is the gateway to opportunity!! Proper payment requires translating descriptions of diagnoses and procedures into a numerical format. Learning these rules better equips all GI nurses and associates with the tools to work smarter, not harder, in an efficient, profitable unit without compromising staff, physician, and customer satisfaction.
