Article Content

This issue begins the 12th year of publication for JONA Law. We are pleased to present an especially timely CEU feature in this issue that discusses considerations related to the Americans with Disabilities Act when dealing with a nurse suffering from alcoholism. This article is timely in light of the Congress' recent modifications to the Americans with Disabilities Act, which significantly broadened employees' rights with respect to workplace issues arising from diseases such as alcoholism.

Another article discusses an innovative process developed by one facility for an online ethics discussion forum to facilitate ethics committee case review in real time. Lastly, this issue includes an article from the National Counsel of State Boards of Nursing discussing an evidence-based regulatory model for transitioning new nurses to practice. As we continue to experience shortages of nurses, and as people turn to nursing as a career in light of job cuts in other sectors of the economy, this work takes on even greater importance.

As always, we welcome your feedback on what you read here and would encourage you to share your innovative practices by submitting an article for publication. Visit us at JONAlaw.com for more information.
