Thanks to Linda Laskowski-Jones for her editorial, "Flight or Fight? Taking a Stand against Bullies" (February 2010).* I couldn't agree more. In my years of nursing, I've met bullies at all levels, and I've also heard lame excuses for their behavior from their coworkers and supervisors.

 

There's no room for bullies in the workplace or anywhere else. Every institution should make it crystal clear that bullying won't be tolerated, and coworkers should speak out against this behavior when they see it. You're correct when you say, "What you allow, you condone." When confronted, bullies generally retreat like the cowards they are.
