The Institute of Medicine’s Roundtable on Value & Science-Driven Health Care was established in 2006 in the face of growing awareness that care that’s important is often not delivered, and care that’s delivered is often not important, with significant health and economic consequences for Americans. The Learning Health System and its Innovation Collaboratives Update Report summarizes recent work and discussions under the auspices of the IOM roundtable-hosted meetings, workshops, and projects.

New study finds superior nurse work environments in Magnet® hospitals

New research shows that Magnet® hospitals have better work environments, a more highly educated nursing workforce, superior nurse-to-patient staffing ratios, and higher nurse satisfaction than non-Magnet hospitals.

HIMSS: Increase in hospitals expected to achieve meaningful use

When it comes to meeting Stage 1 of meaningful use, new research from HIMSS Analytics reported a 16% increase, from 25% to 41% in the 7 months from February to September 2011, in hospitals being well positioned to meet Stage 1 of meaningful use.

RWJF Executive Nurse Fellows Program call for applications

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellows program has released its call for applications for the 2012 cohort. The highly competitive national nurse leadership program will award up to 20 fellowships to nurses who aspire to lead teams and organizations in improving health and healthcare locally and nationally. The application deadline is January 18, 2012.
