It's time! Eliminating healthcare disparities

Equity of Care has released a guide summarizing nine successful hospitals and healthcare systems’ achievement of one of its three goals: increasing the collection of race, ethnicity, and language preference data to facilitate its increased use; increasing cultural competency training for clinicians and support staff; and increasing diversity in governance and management.

The target? Wrong-site surgery

The Joint Commission Center for Transforming Healthcare’s Targeted Solutions Tool guides healthcare organizations through a step-by-step process to identify, measure, and reduce risks in key processes that can contribute to a wrong site surgery.

The heart of healthcare

The Association for the Healthcare Environment offers a toolkit to help hospitals support best practices in the environment of care and recognize outstanding environmental services professionals.

Cracking down on fraud

A new report shows that the government’s healthcare fraud prevention and enforcement efforts recovered close to $4.1 billion dollars of taxpayer money in fiscal year 2011. This is the highest amount ever recovered from both individuals and companies who attempted to defraud taxpayers and seniors or who sought payments to which they weren’t entitled.
