Connecticut CE Requirements for License Renewal

Connecticut.jpegAs a nurse in the state of Connecticut, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license. All of our CE activities are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). To assist you in meeting your state’s continuing education requirements, we have added links to related topics. Please ensure that any activity meets the requirements of your state board of nursing. 

Renewal Requirements

RN and LPN

  • License renewal after January 1, 2022, and once every 6 years thereafter:
    • 1 contact hour: screening for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief
    • 1 contact hour: suicide prevention training


Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

  • Every two years
    • 50 hours of continuing education related to your area of practice, and including: 
      • at least 5 contact hours of training or education in pharmacotherapeutics
      • at least 1 contact hour in each of the following topics:
        • diseases, including, but not limited to, acquired immune deficiency syndrome and human immunodeficiency virus
        • risk management
        • sexual assault
        • domestic violence
        • cultural competency
        • substance abuse (including, but not limited to, prescribing controlled substances and pain management)
      • at least 2 contact hours of training or education on the topic of mental health conditions common to veterans and family members of veterans be completed not less than once every six years. This includes determining whether a patient is a veteran or family member of a veteran; screening for post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief; and suicide prevention training.
