Rhode Island CE Requirements for License Renewal

Rhode-Island.jpegAs a nurse in the state of Rhode Island, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license.  All of our CE activities are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). To assist you in meeting your state’s continuing education requirements, we have added links to related topics. Please ensure that any activity meets the requirements of your state board of nursing.

Renewal Requirements

RN
  • Every two years
    • 10 hours of continuing education, including 2 hours related to substance abuse
  • 1 hour on Alzheimer's disease one time per career
LPN 
  • Every two years
    • 10 hours of continuing education, including 2 hours related to substance abuse
  • 1 hour on Alzheimer's disease one time per career
Advanced Practice
  • Every two years
    • 10 hours of continuing education, including 2 hours related to substance abuse
  • 1 hour on Alzheimer's disease one time per career
  • For Prescriptive Authority
    • 8 hours on opioid or other substance use disorders
