Washington CE Requirements for License Renewal

Washington.jpegAs a nurse in the state of Washington, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license. All of our CE activities are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). To assist you in meeting your state’s continuing education requirements, we have added links to related topics. Please ensure that any activity meets the requirements of your state board of nursing.

Renewal Requirements

RN
  • Annually 
    • Active nursing practice: 8 hours of continuing education and 96 hours of active practice Retired active nursing practice: 8 hours of continuing education and 24 hours a year (max of 90 days a year)​
  • One time 
    • 6 hours on suicide assessment, treatment, and management; must be an approved course
LPN 
  • Annually
    • Active nursing practice: 8 hours of continuing education and 96 hours of active practice 
    • Retired active nursing practice: 8 hours of continuing education and 24 hours a year (max of 90 days a year)
  • One time 
    • 6 hours on suicide assessment, treatment, and management; must be an approved course

Advanced Practice
  • Every two years
    • 30 hours of continuing education in specialty area
    • 15 hours of continuing education in pharmacology for ARNP with prescriptive authority
    • One time 
      • 6 hours on suicide assessment, treatment, and management; must be an approved course
