Michelle A. Janney, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, 2013 AONE President, Senior Vice President, and Wood-Prince Family Chief Nurse Executive at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, discusses the impact of engaging institutional leadership in nursing philanthropic and strategic priorities and the importance of developing a culture of philanthropy that permeates the organization and encourages participation from all levels. The article highlights key outcomes of Northwestern Memorial Hospital's collective efforts to build a culture of philanthropy that prioritizes nursing as consequential to the mission of the organization.
