Connecticut APRN CE Requirements

As an APRN in the state of Connecticut, you must obtain 50 contact hours to meet your continuing education requirement for license renewal. We invite you to explore NursingCenter's CEConnection, a robust online nursing continuing education resource for nationally recognized contact hours. With exclusive content from Lippincott Williams & Wilkins award-winning, peer-reviewed nursing journals, you will find credible, current, authoritative, evidence-based resources to help you in your practice and meet your license renewal requirement.

It is required that the 50 contact hours are related to your area of practice and include at least five contact hours of training or education in pharmacotherapeutics. In addition, you will need at least one contact hour in diseases, including, but not limited to, acquired immune deficiency syndrome and human immunodeficiency virus; risk management; sexual assault; domestic violence; and cultural competency. You will also need at least one contact hour in substance abuse.

In addition, it is now required that at least two contact hours of training or education on the topic of mental health conditions common to veterans and family members of veterans be completed not less than once every six years. This includes determining whether a patient is a veteran or family member of a veteran; screening for post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief; and suicide prevention training.
