We recently celebrated Certification week in April and Nurses' week in May. I am always so humbled when I read about all the amazing things nurses do. Your dedication to your profession is unparalleled. There are countless stories of how you have touched the lives of your patients. You work long hours without breaks. You stay when the weather is bad and your replacement can't make it in to relieve you. You set goals and accomplish them. You go back to school to gain more knowledge and advance in your profession. You study and take exams to become an expert in your field. I am in awe of you and applaud your commitment to your patients. They are lucky to have you!

As we take time to enjoy the summer months, we can plan for October and our national meeting. There is still time to sign up for the CPSN or CANS exam. It is such an exciting time to belong to this elite group. We are moving toward the electronic exam at our testing sites but will continue to test on paper at the convention. We do not have the resources to electronically test the volume we have at the convention.

Hopefully you have responded to our survey that has been sent to you. We are looking to you to help guide us in what our plastic surgery nurses are doing throughout the country. Please take the time to respond to the survey. This information is vital to our accreditation process. We will meet in October and review the data compiled from the survey by CNET. This will comprise the next step in our accreditation process.

I know you have heard this many times over the past year but I cannot emphasize enough that your recertification packets must be clean and concise. Please note your recertification date and get your packets in to the office for processing. You should receive notification of your upcoming renewal from the board office. Please verify your contact info that we have listed and make sure it is correct so you can receive notifications in a timely fashion.

And finally, we have heard from our members that they would like practice tests for the certification exams. And while we would like to address this issue, we are realizing that it is not as easy as we had thought. It will require quite a bit of work as wee as input from CNET. This translates into dollars for us and so it will most likely be an initiative for 2016. And while we are very appreciative of ASPSN's assistance with our ABNS costs, it is quite a big expense for CPSN this year!

We welcome your comments/suggestions. Please do not hesitate to contact your PSNCB Board.

Again, thanks to all of you for your dedication to the profession and everything you do for your patients!

Respectfully,

Jacqueline Frazee, BSN, RNFA, CNOR, CPSN,
