Abstract

According to this study:

 

* In patients with diabetes mellitus whose systolic blood pressure is higher than 140 mmHg, antihypertensive treatment lowers the risk of death and cardiovascular disease.

 

* In those whose systolic blood pressure is less than 140 mmHg, antihypertensive treatment has no observed benefit and may increase the risk of cardiovascular death.
