In the article "Do Needleless Intravenous Systems Increase the Risk of Infection?" by Marilyn Hanchett, RN, MS, CPHQ, CIC, and Ling-Yu Kung, BA, published in the May/June 1999 issue of the Journal of Intravenous Nursing, the following correction should be made:

 

"Various needleless systems are challenged with a relatively high inoculum (1 x 104 colony forming units), which can be gram positive or gram negative, and the rate of fluid pathway contamination is analyzed."
